Frequently Asked Questions

  • Did You Know?

    • What is the CEMM?

The Center of Excellence for Medical Multimedia

    • What is a CD/DVD-ROM?

These are disks to be used with your personal computer (PC). The programs on the disks allow for interactivity and contain downloadable information. DVD-ROMs hold more information than CD-ROMs and require a DVD-ROM drive.

    • What is a DVD video?

This is the popular video format to be used as a "view-only” disk on your TV. The programs on the disks do not allow for interactivity or contain downloadable information. Alternatively, you can use your computer’s DVD-ROM drive to watch videos if you install the appropriate DVD player software (which may come preinstalled on your PC or Mac).

    • What is a Web card?

Web cards provide the Web address, or URL, for the content of each CEMM program. The flip side of each card displays the URL for the CEMM Virtual Library, a comprehensive resource for patient education. The cards are colorful and created in a durable wallet-card format, which can be displayed in the Web card stand.

    • Does the CEMM charge for products?

All CEMM products are free of charge (including shipping) for all Air Force medical facilities and other branches of the service (Army and Navy) that treat Air Force patients. For non-military facilities, CEMM products are shipped and charged at cost.

    • How many products can I order?

The CEMM doesn’t limit the quantities of products that can be ordered. Typically, a facility will order 50-100 of a product.

    • Can anyone at our medical facility order CEMM products?

In an effort to avoid duplication and to keep shipping costs to a minimum, the CEMM encourages all orders be placed by the facility Health Care Integrator (HCI).

    • How does the CEMM determine the programs to develop?

Program development is based on criteria, such as:

      • Is the disease or condition in the top ten AFMS diagnoses?
      • Is it associated with high-frequency visits or high-cost management?
      • Is it difficult to gain compliance with treatment of the disease?
      • Does it require maximum time to educate patients on the condition?
      • Is it a “special interest item”?
    • What is the difference between Flash and WMV format?

Flash video will play within the browser in the Flash player. A WMV can be downloaded and saved to your local machine and played with Windows Media Player.
